Planet Sport Titles Continue to Grow in User Popularity According to Press Gazette

Distinguished media and publishing trade title Press Gazette have shown Planet Sport titles to be in great shape in their widely shared analysis of the UK’s top sports websites.

The Gazette’s list ranks the 50 most popular sports news brands, and, in the analysis, multiple Planet Sport titles have rocketed through the ranks, improving on their standings from last year.

The rankings are based on engagement data collected over a 12-month period by online audience measurement solution Ipsos Iris. Using this data, Press Gazette ranks all outlets based on volume of engagement and filters out those which, in Press Gazette’s view, do not cover sport. Individual clubs and sports associations are also removed from the rankings.

Planet Sport’s football transfer title TEAMtalk has seen a huge uptick in user popularity with an increase of 55% - from 1.1m to 1.7m users. Appearing in fourth place this year, TEAMtalk has risen two places, with only Sky Sports, SportBible and ESPN ahead of it. TEAMtalk boasts the greatest year-on-year change out of all these titles with an 84% uptick.

The refreshed front-end and rebrand of the TEAMtalk site as revealed last year have proven to be big factors in the title’s continued ascent in popularity with football fans.

TEAMtalk was not the only title from the Planet Sport stable to achieve significant success in the report. Football365 also saw an impressive year-on-year growth of 259%. Additionally, Planet F1 secured a top twenty place in the rankings once more.
