Launch of PlanetSport.com

Planet Sport Publishing - the Leeds-based digital media group behind titles such as Planet Football and Planet F1 - has launched a new multi-sports site to provide a single destination for sports fans and meet a growing demand for entertaining sports content.

PlanetSport.com offers original coverage across football, racing, boxing, and golf and will draw on the best from the wider Planet Sport network and its team of specialist journalists who already cater for online audiences of 20 million unique visitors per month.

Planet Sport Publishing’s Managing Director, Tim Satchell said: “PlanetSport.com was conceived to take us into new sports and build on our existing approach to offering high- quality, engaging sports content.

Fresh Perspective on Sport

“We see it giving us an opportunity to cover football, for example, from a fresh perspective, complementing the different voices of our other football brands: TEAMtalk is focused on transfer news; Football365 is forthright and opinion-led whereas Planet Football celebrates all that is good in the beautiful game.”

PlanetSport.com will build up to and offer live coverage of sport wherever and whenever it happens, including the background, data, odds and the talking points all presented in an entertaining style designed to enhance fans’ overall enjoyment of sport.

New Quality Live and Deep Content Offering

“Our research told us that many of our readers enjoy following sports live and in-depth with the latest information from a wide variety of sources,” said Satchell. “With PlanetSport.com we want to ensure these fans are equipped with quality information, statistical trends and analytical thinking from experienced pundits.”

PlanetSport.com also heralds a new look and feel for the overall Planet Sport Publishing business, with new branding intended to convey the energetic and innovative nature of a business seeking to be right at the centre of the fans' world of sport.

Expansion Plans

As a result of this launch, Planet Sport Publishing is expanding its editorial team in the UK and across the globe. The business now employs nearly 90 full-time and freelance journalists, content producers and developers producing engaging, original sports content.
